1861-The OMI(Oblates of Mary Immaculate) establish a Mission
1863-The OMI opens a school for Indian(First Nations) Boys.
1868-The OMI opens a school for Indian(First Nations) Girls.
1882-First school built (at Burtons Prairie now Hatzic).
1891-The Railway Bridge over the Fraser River is built.
1891-Townsite of Mission is laid out. Great land sale held May 19.
1892-Corporation of the District of Mission is formed, surrounding townsite.
1892-The OMI builds the Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes.
1894-First Mission Agricultural fair held.
1900-A condensed milk factory opens.
1907-Telephone service from Mission to Hatzic established.
1908-Fraser Valley Record starts publication.
1911-Kootenay Jam Factory(later King-Beach) opens.
1912-Stave Falls Dam and power plant completed. Second in size only to Niagra falls.
1912-Mission's First Movie Theatre opens.
1922-Mission townsite becomes the Village of Mission.
1925-Mission Memorial Hospital opens at 5th Avenue and James St.
1927-Railway bridge is planked for Road Traffic.
1929-Municipal Hall on First Ave. built.
1930-Ruskin Dam completed.
1946-First Strawberry Festival held.
1946-First Soapbox Derby held as a wildcat race.
1947-Eddy Match Factory opens. First offical Soap Box Derby franchise race held.
1947-Mission Library moves to its own building on Second Ave.
1953-Benedictines establish Westminster Abbey.
1958-Mission Village becomes town.
1958-Mission Tree Farm Established.
1959-Mission Plaza Shopping center opens on First Avenue.
1961-Federal government builds new Indian Residential School third site of St. Mary's.
1962-Historical OMI school buildings demolished.
1965-Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes destroyed.
1965-New Mission Hospital built on Hurd St.
1965-Mission Raceway opens.
1968-Skating Arena Opens.
1969-Mission City & District amalgamate.
1972-New Mission library built on James Street at Second Avenue.
1972-Mission Museum opens in old library.
1973-Highway bridge over the Fraser constructed.
1974-New Municipal hall built on Stave Lake Road.
1977-Leisure center built at Taulbut and Seventh.
1986-Fraser River Heritage Park opens.
