During the summer trimester, the Universit. welcomes over 200 students who have been granted bursaries by Heritage Canada for a French Immersion program of a five-week duration. The students' ages range from 16 to 60 and they, along with professors and monitors, must reside on campus for the duration of the session.
During Immersion, evenings are spent performing in talent shows, watching movies, and listening to concerts of various music forms. Basketball and softball tournaments are also available for sports enthousiasts. Week-ends are spent canoeing, deep-sea fishing, playing tourist or tennis as well as other activities. Each of these activities reinforces the students’ knowledge of French.
All Immersion sessions include at least 4 hours of formal instruction and one workshop per day with highly qualified teachers, above the required language laboratory exercises every week.
