Cullum Place:

John Arthur Cullum grew up on his parent’s farm in the Condie District near Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from both the University of Toronto and the University of Edinburgh. Following his graduation he returned to Regina, Saskatchewan and established his own medical practice.

In 1905 John Cullum and another physician opened the Park Sanatorium, which they later sold to the Grey Nuns in 1907. This property would later become The Pasqua Hospital, which remains in operation to this day. In 1914 John Cullum joined the 28th Battalion as medical officer and was later promoted to the rank of Captain.

On March 9th, 1916 Captain John Cullum was awarded the Croix-de-Guerre by the Government of France for his bravery in seeking out and treating the wounded on the battlefield while under fire. On November 9th, 1916 Captain Cullum died of wounds received on the battlefield.

Today a bronze plaque hangs in Regina’s St. Paul's Cathedral in memorial to Captain John Cullum – a gallant and selfless officer.
