Grant Drive and Road:

Gordon Burton Grant was mayor of Regina from 1952 to 1953, and a city alderman for a total of six years. He once said that he entered politics “because a lot of other people didn’t want to”. Gordon Grant was proud of the things he accomplished while in the Mayor’s office. The first was the construction of a new City Hall and the second was receiving a cheque for $650,000, on behalf of the City of Regina, for the construction of the Buffalo Pound Water Reservoir.

Gordon Grant was elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1964. He held a variety of portfolios in the Liberal Government lead by Premier Ross Thatcher including public-health, telephones, highways, and transportation. Grant was also involved with the Regina Exhibition Association and the establishment of the Regina Plains Museum. Gordon Grant retired from office in 1975.
