Montreal (Montreal from Mount Royal)

Montreal, the metropolis and greatest port of Canada, is a city of over 300,000 inhabitants located upon an island at the confluence of the Ottawa and St. Lawrence rivers, 986 miles from the sea. It is one of the most beautiful cities on the continent. In the rear towers Mount Royal, 900 feet high, from which the city derives its name. A grand view of the city and harbour, with the Victoria Bridge in the distance, may be obtained from the summit.
