Halifax (Review of Troops on the Common)

Northeast of the Citadel stretches the Common, a piece of Government property which has been the scene of frequent reviews, sham fights and other military maneuvers. At the northwest corner of the Common is a large new Drill Hall and Armoury, built in 1899. This is a massive turreted structure of Nova Scotia sandstone. The regular garrison in Halifax usually numbers about 2,000 men.
