ACTIVITY ONE: Architectural Vocabulary

Materials Needed

Activity Steps

Throughout the Tod House Tour, terms or words relating to architecture link to an architectural glossary. Have students work in pairs and choose two or three words from the glossary. The students should research and illustrate the concept to the class orally or through pictures, bringing in examples from home or creating a model for visual references. When students are ready for their "presentation," invite a guest architect and/or carpenter to discus these concepts further and how they might have changed since Tod's time.
