A
word about the paintings,
Native to Montreal, Lynda Bruce received a Bachelor of Fine Arts
from Concordia University in 1983, followed by a session at the
Banff Centre School of Fine Arts in the "Young Resident Artists"
program . Her recent paintings reflect a continuing interest in
nature and the landscape: "I find my inspiration in the environment
that surrounds me - a living prescence in perpetual transformation,
which inhabits and nourishes my imagination".
Long walks
through fields and forest, along the river or in the apple orchard
where her house is situated, find fruition later in the artist's
studio. The paintings bear witness to the fluidity of time, the
passing of the seasons, and the elusive, ephemeral light which illuminates
everything.
The recent
paintings of Lynda Bruce are rich and
passionate, loose energetic brushwork proffering a non-traditional
vision of the landscape. "If I have a single artistic intent
with respect to the viewer, it would be to offer a break from the
turmoil of the outside world through the exploration of another
world - a peaceful one, filled with light and colour".
