Artist's Statement
In her archaeology of the imagination, Michèle Lapointe excavates dreams, drawing her inspiration from people, their place and their history. Her work becomes one with the milieu that spawns its growth. Lapointe dreams of bringing stone to life, transforming metals into crystalline objects and making glass - her preferred medium - as solid as steel. Architecture and environment are harmonized in every project through Lapointe's rigorous and detailed research into the concept and technical aspects of her works. Her unparalleled works are without compromise in their construction, becoming inextricable features of their environment. As honoured bearers of the march of time, Lapointe's sundials bespeak our existence on this earth, our shadows ever-shifting under the sun.
