the general election of 10 June 1957, St-Laurent resigned on 21 June 1957 and the
Eighteenth Ministry assumed office the same day.
[2] Diefenbaker was also President of the
Privy Council and Secretary of State for External Affairs.

Affairs and National Resources. He was appointed Minister of National Defence on 11 Oct.
1960.

[25] Statute 7-8 Eliz. II, c. 15,
assented to on 4 June 1959, created the office of Parliamentary Secretary, this office
replacing that of Parliamentary Assistant.
