Governor General and Deputy Prime Minister to attend François Mitterrand Memorial

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that, at his request, Governor General Roméo LeBlanc and Deputy Prime Minister Sheila Copps will attend the memorial in honour of former French President François Mitterrand. Foreign Affairs Minister André Ouellet who is already in Paris will be joining them.

The representative of the Head of State and the representatives of the Government of Canada will attend the memorial at Notre-Dame de Paris, Thursday, January 11, at 11:00 a.m. (local time) in France.
