Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago to visit Canada

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that Mr. Basdeo Panday, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, will conduct a working visit to Ottawa on October 9, 1996. Mervyn Assam, Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Consumer Affairs will accompany Prime Minister Panday.

"Trinidad and Tobago is becoming one of the most receptive locations for trade and investment in the English-speaking Caribbean and provides excellent business opportunities for Canadian companies," said Prime Minister Chrétien. "We are following its progress and development with interest."

In Ottawa, Mr. Panday will meet with Prime Minister Chrétien and Environment Minister Sergio Marchi. Mr. Panday will also meet with the local Trinidadian community.
