Statement by the Prime Minister

November 9, 1996

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today paid tribute to the late Joseph Ghiz:

It is with great sadness that we mourn the untimely passing of Joe Ghiz. His bond with the people of Prince Edward Island was strong and will be forever lasting. As premier, and indeed at all times, Joe Ghiz displayed a deep and abiding love for his province and his country. I will always remember him as a man of tremendous integrity and passion, whose dedication to the common good will be missed by all who knew him.

Aline joins me in offering our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this very difficult time.
