Mr. Jacques Chirac
President of the French Republic
Palais de l'Élysée
Paris, FRANCE

Mr. President,

It is with horror and consternation that I learned of the murderous bomb attack committed today in Paris. In the name of the Government of Canada and of the Canadian people, please accept and convey our most sincere condolences to members of the families and friends of the victims of this barbarous crime.

I would also like to express the full support of our government in the fight against terrorism that French authorities have been carrying out for many years. You can count on Canada's support, as a committed ally.

Sincerely,
