Prime Minister Announces New Deputy Minister of Western Economic Diversification

Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment of Oryssia Lennie as Deputy Minister of Western Economic Diversification, effective November 1, 1997. Mrs. Lennie, who currently holds the position of Associate Deputy Minister of the department, succeeds John McLure who is retiring from the Public Service at the end of October.

The Prime Minister extended his appreciation to Mr. McLure for his outstanding and dedicated service during a distinguished career of 37 years in the public sector.
