Statement by the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Chrétien expressed his shock and sadness today at the news of the terrible bus accident that killed 43 senior citizens in the Charlevoix region of Quebec.
"Like all Canadians, I was horrified to learn that a pleasant afternoon devoted to taking in the fall beauty of the Charlevoix had ended so tragically.
I know Aline and I speak for Canadians from coast to coast as we extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. And it is our fervent hope that the injured will fully recover and rejoin their loved ones."
