Letter to Premiers and Territorial Government Leaders

Attached is the text of a letter sent by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien to Premiers and territorial Government Leaders inviting them to a meeting on Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12, 1997, in Ottawa.

Dear Premier:
I am writing to invite Premiers and Territorial Government Leaders to a private meeting in Ottawa starting with dinner on the evening of December 11 and closing at the end of the day on December 12. As set out in the Speech from the Throne, this occasion will provide an opportunity to focus particularly on cooperative approaches to address youth employment, health care and social policy renewal.
Our officials are in the process of determining how best to shape the agenda for our upcoming First Ministers' Meeting. Once they have completed their consultations, an agenda proposal will be forwarded to you.
The citizens of Canada count on our solid partnership to find solutions to the current problems and to lead them into the next millennium stronger and more prosperous.
I look forward to our discussions in December.
