Statement by the Prime Minister

March 16, 1998
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today expressed his sadness on learning of the death of Mr. Yves Landry :

" Through his determination and his desire to learn, Yves Landry became an outstanding manager and a leader in a fast-changing sector of Canadian industry. He climbed the ladder of success to the top job at Chrysler Canada. Because of his personal commitment to our country's youth, he was an excellent link between the business and educational communities. That was one reason why he was recently appointed to chair the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation.

On behalf of all Canadians, Aline and I offer our sincerest sympathy to his family and his many friends."
