Prime Minister announces new Deputy Minister of Environment

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment of Dr. Leonard M. Good as Deputy Minister of the Environment. Dr. Good is currently Canadian Executive Director at the World Bank Group. He succeeds Mr. Ian Glen.
Prior to his appointment as Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance, and his subsequent election to the World Bank in November 1994, Dr. Good was Deputy Minister of the Environment for a period of four years. Dr. Good joined the Public Service in 1973 and held progressively more senior positions in the former Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. From 1987 to 1989, he was Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans) in the Privy Council Office.
The Prime Minister took this opportunity to thank Mr. Glen for his contribution to the public service over the years and to wish him every success as he undertakes new challenges in the private sector.
This appointment is effective September 21, 1998.
