Prime Minister Announces Staff Changes

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien is pleased to announce today a number of changes to his Press office:

Ms. Françoise Ducros assumes the role of Director of Communications. For the past three years, Ms. Ducros has served as Executive Assistant to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. Prior to joining the Minister's Office for Intergovernmental Affairs, she worked for the Minister of Fisheries from 1993 to 1996.

Ms. Ducros replaces Mr. Peter Donolo who has held the position of Director of Communications since 1993.

Ms. Jennifer Langwill assume the role of Press Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ms. Lang has served as Deputy Press Secretary since September, 1997. Prior to joining PMO, she was Press Secretary to the Minister of Justice from 1996 to 1997.

Ms. Lang replaces Mr. Patrick Parisot who has served as Press Secretary to the Prime Minister since 1993. Mr. Parisot assumes the position of Special Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Ms. Sophie Galarneau assumes the position of Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ms. Galarneau has served as Press Officer since November 1997. Prior to her work at PMO, she handled communications for the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada from 1995 to 1997.

All PMO changes are effective June 21.
