Statement by the Prime Minister

November 3, 1999
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today expressed his deep sadness at the death of CART race driver Greg Moore:

"Like all Canadians, I was stunned to learn of the death of Greg Moore. Nothing is more painful to behold than the sudden, tragic loss of young life, with so much promise and so many hopes left unrealized. Greg Moore was blessed with enormous gifts, with an abiding joy in his work and a great zest for life. No mere words can adequately capture the void that his death has left in so many lives.

All we can do is pray that those who grieving today can find a measure of peace and comfort in the difficult days ahead. Aline joins me in extending our deepest sympathies to his family and many, many friends."
