eManifest Portal

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has developed the eManifest Portal primarily for small- to medium-sized businesses, to help clients comply with eManifest requirements and ease their transition from paper reporting to pre-arrival electronic data transmission. The Portal also allows the CBSA’s trade partners to store data, query, and verify the status of their shipments through the Internet.

The eManifest Portal is accessible from the CBSA Web site.

Main features

The eManifest Portal provides many self-serve functions such as the ability to:

  • securely submit trade data to the CBSA;
  • confirm receipt of information and receive notifications from the CBSA;
  • verify status of the trade data, whether it is submitted through the Portal or by electronic data interchange (EDI);
  • access online help functions; and
  • receive system messages from the CBSA.

Registering for eManifest Portal User and Business Accounts

There are two types of accounts in the eManifest Portal – an eManifest Portal User Account and a Business Account. Each person who works in the Portal must first set up an eManifest Portal User Account. To set up a User Account, the user will need to provide information, such as their name, e-mail address and telephone number.

The Business Account is set up by an authorized representative of the business, called an Account Owner. The Account Owner will need a valid, CBSA-issued carrier code and a Shared Secret. For further information on the process for obtaining a carrier code, visit the Commercial Carriers section of the CBSA Web site. Refer to the eManifest section for information on how to obtain a Shared Secret.

User requirements

Before using the eManifest Portal, all users require:

  • a computer with Internet access;
  • a Web browser:
    • Internet Explorer 8 and above;
    • Firefox 2.0 and above; and
  • an eManifest Portal User Account.

Client support

Detailed information on the eManifest Portal is available in the eManifest section of the CBSA Web site, including Frequently Asked Questions, a Quick Reference Guide and a Glossary of Common Terms. Technical support is provided through the eManifest Technical Support Unit.
