Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski receives funding from Government of Canada

Rimouski, Quebec, July 31, 2013 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski has been granted financial assistance for the commercialization of the event on foreign and domestic markets outside Quebec. This year’s competition takes place July 31 to August 4.

“By lending its support to the promotion of the Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski, the Government of Canada is contributing to the economic development of Bas-Saint-Laurent and furthering the growth of tourism and job creation in the region,” said Minister Lebel.

The Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski is a world-class cycling event in which young racers aged 15 to 18 years compete in various categories. Competition organizers plan to carry out a foreign-market commercialization strategy for the race’s 2013 and 2014 editions in the aim of attracting a greater number of out-of-province tourists to the event and extending the Bas-Saint-Laurent region’s international reach and reputation.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $113,625 non-repayable financial contribution over two years, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
