Canadian Television Fund
This public-private fund created by the Canadian Heritage Department, Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Cable Industry is
intended to increase the broadcast presence of Canadian television programs. The searchable Web site has the 2002/03 guidelines and
instructions on how to apply to the CTF, with an online tutorial and application forms in MSWord. A detailed FAQ section, lists of
programs that received support, the 2001 funding results for all categories, press releases, and financial statements from 1996/97
on are also available. For producers, there are cashflow and final cost reports, and a downloadable version of the CTF logo. A
listing of events is on the site, but one can also fill out an online form to receive mailings of events.

National Film Board of Canada
The NFB Web site is searchable and contains a great deal of historical information about the NFB including biographical
information on key people in its history since the 1940's, and descriptions of and background details on the production of famous
films. Current information includes press releases, listings of new video releases and films showing in theatre and on television,
and ordering information with online order forms for NFB films and videos. The "Collections" section has the excellent keyword
searchable English and French NFB film catalogues which provide a brief abstract describing all of the NFB films available. The
"Index" allows you to browse films by category, film genre, series, and region of Canada. There is also an online catalogue of the
NFB's thousands of stock shots dating from 1895. The "Documentary Space" is an informative section for anyone interested in,
studying, or working on documentary films. Besides details on the industry in Canada, it includes a collection of articles,
annotated links to Web sites, lists of festivals for documentary film, of funding agencies, production companies, and others. The
Animation section is not so well done. It is awkward to navigate and easy to miss parts. It includes a history of animation at the
NFB shown through photos and information on some key people and their work. Links are provided to other cinema-related sites.

Telefilm Canada
This federal cultural agency's keyword searchable site has information about its mandate, history, and operations, with annual
reports from 1996/97 on, the business plan 1997-2000, a list of its offices and managers, and news releases. The "Festivals" section
provides details on Canadian and international film festivals, and on funds and programs administered by the agency with a list of
the projects supported and the amounts invested. The feature films catalogue, the television programs catalogue, and the new
multimedia catalogue describe each film, program and multimedia title funded by Telefilm Canada. An international section has
details on co-production agreements, international markets for Canadian films, online application forms, affidavits and mini
treaties, and the latest issues of the "Zoom International" newsletter. A very useful feature, the searchable "Directory of Canadian
Film, Television, Multimedia and Video Industry" provides contact information and Web access, where available, to over 4,000 firms
and organizations involved in the Canadian audiovisual industry. Another searchable directory: "The Canada-Asia Creative Directory"
lists approximately 150 Canadian film and television industry professionals who are familiar with an Asian language or culture.
Updated monthly, it includes their filmographies and contact information. This site also links to other Web sites on Canadian film.
