Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (formerly 'Revenue Canada') Official Canadian government site
As of November 1, 1999, Revenue Canada became the Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency. This comprehensive site contains answers to frequently asked questions of both individuals and companies; contains the full text of many documents including relevant acts, fact sheets, and other agency publications; and provides the most requested tax and customs forms (available in various formats) including the general income tax package, and updated filing rules. A site map is provided but navigation is quite efficient through the home page itself. The Newsroom section contains the full text of the current and previous years' news releases, fact sheets, ministers' speeches, and tax tips. Here is also an explanation that this site has information about current tax laws; what they say and how they are to be interpreted and applied, in contrast to Finance Canada (link provided) which is responsible for federal tax policy and legislation. Home page links also include those to detailed contact information, a site search engine, career opportunities, electronic services, and online forms and publications. Customs subsections include General, Business, and Individuals. Tax subsections consist of Business, Individuals, Non-residents, Charities, Non-profit organizations, Registered plans, Trusts, and Technical publications. There are also headings for Child and family benefits and Tax credit programs. Each subsection provides detailed and general information, forms, and links to publications. Mailed forms may also be ordered directly through the page. There are many other links, mostly to related federal and provincial government sites.
