Businesswomen in Trade
Businesswomen in Trade is a bilingual site produced by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), geared
towards female entrepreneurs leading small and medium sized enterprises. As a "Gateway to success in the export marketplace", the
site provides access to essential tools, opportunities, an Export Library, networking links, news, and press releases. There are
links to DFAIT as well as a myriad of related links on exporting, marketing and women as entrepreneurs. The "Networking" links
section includes connections to businesswomen's organizations in Canada such as the Canadian Women's Business Network, national and
international associations and sources in English and French as well as general business and trade sites.

Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP)
This site contains links to a variety of federal and provincial prenatal projects being undertaken through the Canada Prenatal
Nutrition Program as a comprehensive community-based program that supports pregnant women who face conditions of risk that threaten
their health and the development of their babies. The main source at this site is the online "Projects Directory" which links to the
various Canada wide projects to assist this group of women. The directory allows the user to select federal, provincial or even city
related access as well as selected subject access to programs such as teenage pregnancy. Other links provide access to select
publications and reports done by the CPNP. Regional CPNP contact information is also presented.

Celebrating Women's Achievements
The National Library of Canada (NLC) has created a bilingual exhibition about "Canadian women who have made outstanding
contributions" in a wide variety of fields. Subject areas include art, this year's theme, sport, activism, book trade, science,
politics, librarianship and bibliography, and society, music and literature. A theme is selected each year allowing the database to
grow in topic coverage. A link to Women's History Month (http://www.swc-cfc.gc.ca/dates/whm/index.html) is also provided. Each area
provides a wealth of biographical material and photos of exemplary women in those fields. Links to suggested reading for each
subject area and individual provides further access to resources. From each page, links are provided to Help, a NLC site-wide search
engine and the NLC main site.

Gender Equality at CIDAGender Equality at CIDA
Gender Equality is one of CIDA's program priorities to promote "the full and equal involvement of women and men in specific
programs and projects in poverty reduction and in the sustainable development of their societies." On this site, a wealth of
material on this topic is provided that CIDA has published (commissioned papers, tip sheets, and policy discussion papers and
documents) as well as PDF access to CIDA's "Gender Equality Newsletter." Links are also provided to related sites dealing with
gender glossaries, gender-sensitive indicators, gender-sensitive statistics, related online databases and documents. Training
facilities on gender equality and development are provided in the form of online courses as well as information on inhouse
instruction. Information on jobs within this field and contact details are given. Search functions are only provided at the CIDA
full site level.

High Flyers: Canadian Women in Aviation
"In 1996, a partnership between Industry Canada, the National Aviation Museum and Rideau High School [in Ottawa] resulted in the
acceptance of High Flyers: Canadian Women in Aviation as a part of Industry Canada's SchoolNet Digital Collections Program." This
bilingual site is divided into four time frames: The Early Years, Second World War, The 1950s-1960s and The 1970s-1990s. It provides
a list of sources used, biographies and photographs of famous women, information about aviation organizations such as The
Ninety-Nines Inc. and a history of each time frame. This site has not been updated since 1996. Feedback is to a personal email which
does not function.

National Clearinghouse on Family Violence
"The National Clearinghouse on Family Violence (NCFV) is a national resource centre for all Canadians seeking information about
violence within the family and looking for new resources being used to address it. By sharing the latest research findings and
information on all aspects of prevention, protection and treatment, the Clearinghouse seeks to help Canadian communities work toward
the eventual elimination of all forms of family violence." This site provides access to a wealth of publications (available in PDF
format or through an order system for material in print), newsletters, videos, events lists and contact information across Canada.
Access to information is also provided through the NCFV's online catalogue, a detailed FAQ and a search function for the site. The
site is housed on the Population and Public Health Branch of Health Canada's Web site.

Status of Women Canada
The Status of Women (SWC) site is designed to give Canadians "access to the tools to learn about and promote women's equality."
On the site, you can find information on gender-based analysis, initiatives to address SWC priorities, the Policy Research Fund,
programmes that provide financial, technical and professional assistance to support priority issues for the advancement of women's
equality, International Women's Day, the Governor General's Awards, and key dates for women. Numerous publications are available in
HTML, PDF or print formats. Access to these publications is available by title or broad subject lists. Reference assistance is
provided both in person and online from the Florence Bird Memorial Libary. The site is searchable, has a site map and an FAQ.
Selected external Web sites are also provided that focus upon women.

WEST - Women, Environment, Science and Technology
WEST is a bilingual site produced by Environment Canada that provides "general information on the Women, Environment, Science
and Technology project undertaken by Environment Canada and a second initiative undertaken by federal departments." It was last
updated on August 16, 2002. The two main sections of this site offer information on the Environment Canada WEST Committee and the
Women in Federal S&T Working Group; both are working on "improving the environment for women in Environment Canada and the federal
science and technology workforce." Selected documents from these two committees are available. External links to related sites are
also provided.

Women Artists in Canada (WAIC)
This bilingual Web site has information in each of its four sections: Collection, Dissertation, Bibliography and Credits. The
indepth Collection section contains images of and information about each artist's works as well as background information about the
artist, her education, exhibitions, etc. Dissertations are provided in HTML format on a variety of related women artists' topics. A
select bibliography of general art topics as well as citations about each individual artist is provided. An easy to use search
function for the entire site allows for access to all four sections. This project was created by Industry Canada's Canada Digital
Collections program.

This bilingual site is maintained by the Library of Parliament. The list is in order of appointment and includes political party
affiliation, hometown province, year appointed, special appointments, committees and ministries and previous political positions

Women in the House of Commons
The Library of Parliament has developed an up-to-date bilingual site listing the women who are currently sitting in the House of
Commons as a Member of Parliament (MP). Information provided is in order of seniority (i.e., the year elected) and includes:
party(ies) affiliated with, constituency/riding(s), years elected to each riding, previous and current political involvements
(including at the provincial level), special achievements (e.g., Ethel Blondin-Andrew is the first native woman elected as an MP),
cabinet, ministry and agency portfolios, resignations and bi-elections as well as positions held in the House of Commons (i.e.,
whip). "Home"/"Page d'accueil" buttons links to the Parliamentary Internet / Internet Parliamentaire.

Women's Health Bureau
This bilingual site is currently under construction. It contains information about the Women's Health Bureau including its roles
and responsibilities as well as links to regional Centres of Excellence for the Women's Health Program. There is also a history of
the Centres of Excellence for Women's Health Program. The site has links to the Canadian Women's Health Network, U.S. Web sites on
women's health, Health Canada's home and online sites, the Canada - U.S.A. Women's Health Forum and the Commonwealth Secretariat
Awards for Excellence in Women's Health. Also features the Women's Health Strategy from March 1999 which contains information about
the health issues women face and the steps the federal government is taking to assist women with their needs.
