Northwest Territories -- Municipal Information

Deliné

Deliné, Northwest Territories
The Town of Deliné is a small traditional community on the southwest shore of Great Bear Lake. Their Web site, while still under construction, offers information for tourists, as well as a brief glimpse into Dene culture. Government information is limited to the "Contact Us" page, with contact information for the Town, the Chief and Sub-Chief, and the Band Manager. The Tourism section includes pages for "Travel", "Tours and Attractions" (under construction), and "Where to Stay". The Museum section contains information about the town and their culture, including "Our Proud History", a "Nature" photo gallery, and "Stories from the Sahtu Dene". There is also a map that links to photos of the town and Lake. At the time of this review, several pages were not accessible.

Fort Liard

Fort Liard, Northwest Territories
The Hamlet of Fort Liard, "located on the banks of the historic Liard and Petitot Rivers", has developed a Web site intended primarily for potential tourists. The only government information on this site consists of the contact information found on every page. Most of the pages fall into two categories: how to get to Fort Liard and what services are available there. In the former category are "Travel by Road" which includes, among other things, a list of preparations to make before beginning the trip; and "Travel by Air". In the latter category are the "Community Services" page, and pages for local businesses. There is also a history page, "Our Past and Present", which provides a very brief look at over 9000 years of history.
