This small site was established in 1997 as part of a CAP (Community Access Project). It contains a brief history of the area, a
listing of area businesses and points of interest, and a community news section which along with community events provides a very
brief community profile and the name and contact information for the town administrator.

This capital city's Web site is comprised of 4 subject areas: Our Government; General Information; Economic Development; and
Tourism and Culture. Information on the site includes a brief history of the city; visitor information; Charlottetown and P.E.I.
demographics; and a detailed municipal profile. Photos and contact information of city council members, city council minutes for
January 1997-, committee information, and full text of by-laws (last by-law update June 2001), and the current budget are also
included. Many of the links under City Services are under construction. Much of the Web site consists of direct links to the P.E.I.
Government and Capital Commission of Charlottetown Web sites. A site search engine is included.

Town Square: Greater Charlottetown's Online Community
Town Square is a portal site for Virtual Charlottetown, a project "embracing 28 different Information Technology projects, with
the portal being the integrating piece." Virtual Charlottetown is a Smart Communities Demonstration Project of Industry Canada, with
nine local funding partners. It is supposed to act as a site to bring together community and municipal information for the Greater
Charlottetown Area which consists of Charlottetown, Stratford, and Cornwall. Links to the home pages of these towns are throughout
the site with direct links to pages where water bills and parking fines can be paid and where residents can register for
recreational programs and check on facility availability. "Marketplace", "Our Community", "Community Exploration", and "Education &
Learning", are the main sections of the site with further sub-sections within each area. Within "Education & Learning" is Island
Libraries, a "gateway" allowing the searching of both the Provincial Library and Holland College library catalogues at once. More
features and content are planned for this site.

Includes a detailed municipal profile and brief history of the area including the 1995 amalgamation of Cornwall, North River and
Eliot River. The "Government" section contains photos of the town councillors, full text of the town council minutes from March 12,
1997 onwards, full text of the official town plan and of the Zoning and Subdivision Control By-law, and summaries of the latest
budget. Information for "Residents" includes contact information and recreation information with a link to community events. Under
Local Economy, the links to labour market statistics were not working and some other sections are under construction. A comment form
is included.

The Federation's mission is "to promote and foster effective, efficient, and accountable municipal government in Prince Edward
Island... ". A site map, contact info. and email form are on included on the home page. Goals, structure, roles, and revised a
constitution of the organization are given in the Facts section. Full text of the latest newsletters and board meetings are
included. A P.E.I. municipality directory (as of 2002) lists cities', towns' and communities' contact information including
councillors names and Web site links. A one page list of P.E.I. municipalities with official plans and subdivision bylaws is given.
The membership section provides the latest board and executive members, committees and their members, member municipalities and
their contact information, fee structures and a list of the past presidents of FPEIM.

commercial land.

KenNet Online Community Access Program
Contains contact information for the town, virtual tours of the area, and a 'Kensington and Area Tourism Association' link with
information on accommodations and area attractions. The local business directory link did not work at time of site review. A message
from the mayor, festival and events listings, information on Kensington including its primary industries and area associations and
corporations, a Kensington area services directory, digital postcards, a comments form, and a site map are included. Two Industry
Canada SchoolNet sponsored projects within the site, "Virtual Museum" and "The Island Way of Life" contain much P.E.I. historical
information through text and photographs. Each have site maps. The site is difficult to navigate and little municipal government
information is included.

includes statistics and common family names of the area. Recent and historical photographs of the area are available. A listing of
local businesses and various information of interest to those setting up a business is provided. The economy section includes
information on agriculture and forestry and the Montague labour force.

the Community Chairperson, Administrator, Recreation Director, and Fire Chief. The business directory consists of a listing of local

Site includes a welcome from the mayor and town contact information, a list of councillors and responsibilities, and a directory
of services and organizations. "Economy" includes a Business Directory and information on area economic development as well as the
fishery and agriculture industries in the area and links to the Eastern Kings Business Association. Many historic and modern
photographs are included. The Ancestry section was written by local family historian Waldron Leard and includes lists of common
surnames in the area. The History section was compiled by Adele Townshend from "The Leard Papers" and covers the years 1700-1920.
Tourism information is also provided.

The "Town Hall" area of the Web site contains listings and contact information for the councilors and mayor; listings of the
standing and special committees; and annual reports for 1999 and 2000. Council minutes were not available at time of review but are
suppose to be "added soon". "For Residents" contains information re: utilities, subdivisions, recreation, and parks. Results from
the municipal election are within the "Community Happenings" as are news releases and events. "In Business" contains a listing of
local businesses and information on business development.

This re-designed site's home page contains: city job postings; community news; a discussion forum; site map; search engine; and
contact information. The "City Hall" section contains links to department pages with City Council having a ward map; biographies
and photos of councilors and mayor; and council minutes from 1999-. "Financial Services" contains the current budget and highlights
as well as the budgets from 1998-. "Human Resources" has a page consisting of the city structure and links to by-laws. A brief
history of the police department as well as the structure of the department and crime statistics is in "Police Services". In
"Technical Services" a link to the full text of the Official Plan is found as well as links to brochures based on the National
Building Code. A link to the new Economic Development Office Web site is found within the "Economic Development" section. From the
home page, the "About Summerside" section contains links to maps and resources, history, cultural projects, and a walking tour. An
historical slide show is in "History" as well as an historical sketch. A news archives is found within the "What's Happening"
section. "Business" contains a business directory, investment and community profile. Other sections are geared specifically towards
residents and visitors.
