Helen Sawyer Hogg, 1992, by Barbara Woodley

Helen Sawyer Hogg (1905-1993), received many national and international honours, including Companion of the Order of Canada, recognizing her contributions to research in, and to the public understanding of, astronomy. She was a leading world authority on globular star clusters.

Dr. Hogg brought astronomy to the classroom at the University of Toronto between 1936 and 1976, and to the public for 30 years in a weekly column in the Toronto Star.
