Hon. Paul Martin, Hon. Lester B. Pearson and The Rt. Hon. Louis St. Laurent at Ottawa after Pearson’s return from Norway with the Nobel Peace Prize, 1957, by Duncan Cameron

Lester B. Pearson (1897-1972) exemplifies the desire of Canadians to shape the world around us by promoting harmony and peace among all nations.

Pictured here with Louis St. Laurent (right) prime minister from 1948 to 1957, and Paul Martin, one of his cabinet colleagues, Pearson (center) was minister of External Affairs when he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Pearson also contributed to the shaping of our concepts of language and culture when he served as prime minister from 1963 to 1968.
