Karen Kain and Jeremy Blanton, by Ken Bell

Dancers Kain (born 1951) and Blanton perform in the National Ballet of Canada's production, Mirror Walkers, Toronto, Ontario, 1970.

"Kain is an artist and woman endowed with physical beauty, deep musicality and the ability to speak poetry with her body... We have many fine dancers. We have only one Karen Kain."
--The Toronto Star, 1997

In 1973, Kain won the silver medal at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow. During her 28-year dancing career with the National Ballet, she performed every leading role in the classical repertoire and many contemporary works. A favourite partner of Rudolph Nureyev, she has performed with major ballet companies including the Bolshoi Ballet, the Ballet National de Marseilles, the London Festival Ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet and those of Hamburg and Vienna.
