| In this serigraph, artist and photographer David Neel (born 1960) presents a symbolic picture of his family and ancestors, in the traditional Kwagiutl style. The five faces are those of his wife, his three sons and his own. The portrait is testimony to the artistic legacy left by generations of Kwagiutl carvers. The National Archives has acquired a collection of photographic portraits produced by David Neel, as well as several other works of art that touch upon contemporary issues involving Canada's First Peoples.
