Diary of William Lyon Mackenzie King (1874-1950)

King's diary is open at the entry for August 6, 1945, the day the United States Air Force dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima.

King was Prime Minister of Canada for 22 years, from 1921 to 1930 and from 1935 to 1948, a record for the British Commonwealth. A solitary bachelor, he confided in his diary for almost all of his adult life.

The King Fonds is invaluable for its correspondence, photographs, and commentary on social and political events.
