When Elsie MacGill wrote this fairy tale, around age 11, little did she know that about 25 years later she also would be royalty, reigning as Canada's "Queen of the Hurricanes." During the Second World War, she directed the Canadian production of the Hawker Hurricane fighter for the United Kingdom. Her staff of 4,500 produced more than 2,000 aircraft during the war.
