Summary:
Transitioning to land-based closed containment aquaculture would remove the risk that feedlots transfer sea lice or IHN to wild salmon. The proposed federal aquaculture regulations do not offer sufficient protection of wild salmon stocks.

Submission:
I urge the commission to protect the economic and environmental health of our coastal communities. Transitioning to land-based closed containment aquaculture would remove the significant risk of feedlots from spreading sea lice, IHN, etc, to wild salmon. The proposed federal aquaculture regulations do not offer enough protection of wild salmon stock. Please take all measure to protect the delicate balance of our coastal waters. This is your responsibility and the task at hand.

Comment:
pacific salmon are carriers of IHN and Atlantic Salmon are not immune to it not being native to the coast, risk of IHN killing of Wilds caused from fish farms is nil. Sea lice and wild salmon have co-existed for thousands of years before fish farms even existed yet fish farms kill wild because of sealice. seems odd.
