Summary:
The introduction of freshwater krill into the Shuswap and other lakes as a food source for smolts backfired. The krill ate the phyto- and zooplankton normally consumed by the smolts, thereby weakening them prior to their journey down the Fraser River.

Submission:
The DFO introduction of freshwater shrimp/krill into Shushwap and other lakes as a food source for smolts backfired. These Krill eat the phyto/zooplankton that the fry were eating, thus starved the fry/smolts and the smolts were vulnerable to non- survival on their journey down the river towards the ocean feeding grounds. The krill became too big for the smolts to eat. Another of mans good intentions gone wrong!
