Submission: Proving any relationship between fish farms and returning salmon is hampered by lack of information about chemicals used by the farms, how much and when. (Fewer sea lice would be present for a period just after such chemicals are used, which would affect how many wild salmon swimming by are harmed by lice.) Fish farms should be required to publicly divulge what chemicals they use, where, when and how much. Dumping such chemicals is similar to oil spills in the ocean or chemical spills into rivers. |
