Summary:
The commission should investigate the dispersal of contaminants and pollution into Shuswap Lake around Canoe Creek and Salmon River, a salmon spawning area.

Submission:
COVER UPS AND INEFFECTIVE INVESTIGATIONS BY DFO PROVINCIAL AND FEDERAL ENVIRONMENT,AND INTERIOR HEALTH IS LEADING TO A DIASTEROUS SITUATION BY THE CITY OF SALMON ARM RAW SEWER AND THE CO-OP PLYWOOD PLANT DISPERSING CONTAMINATS AND POLLUTION INTO SHUSWAP LAKE. UNFORTUATELY THEY SAY THEY ARE PERMITTED EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE ARE GETING SICK AND FISH AND BIRDS ARE DYING.ENVIRINMENTALISTS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SAY IT IS TO BIG OF AN ISSUE TO TACKLE AND LEAKING SUCH INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC COULD LEAD TO A DAMAGED TOURISM INDUSTRY THAT THE AREA DEPENDS ON FOR SURVIVAL. THIS AREA SURROUNDS CANOE CREEK AND SALMON ARM RIVER, A SALMON SPAWNING AREA. MY RESEARCH HAS LEAD ME TO CONCLUDE THAT FURTHER INVESTIGATION IS REQUIRED. THE DFO HAS ALSO ADVERTIZED ON THE TREASURY BOARD OF CANADA'S WEB SITE THAT THE SALMON ARM BAY HAS CONTAMINATED SITES.THE HIGH PRESSURE RAW SEWER LINE IN THE LAKE WAS BUILT BEFORE ENVIRONMENTAL LAW IN 1997.THE RAW SEWER HOLDING TANKS AND THE SEWER TREATMENT PLANT IS IN FLOOD ZONES.THE PLYWOOD PLANT HAS PERMITS FOR A CONTAMINATED FIELD DISPOSAL SITE THAT IS IN A FLOOD ZONE AND BELOW HIGH WATER MARK IN SUMMER. ONLY ABOUT 200 FT. FROM A CREEK AND NOT FAR FROM LAKE.ALSO KNOWN IS THAT THE PLANT HAS BEEN BUILT ON MAN MADE LAND IN THE LAKE THAT HAS A LOT OF CREOSOTE., RAIL TIES AND OLD LIGHT POLES.IT IS MOSTLY AN AQUATIC LEASE BUT ON LAND.I CANAN SEND YOU PICTURES OF BIRDS DYING IN THE LAKE MIXED IN OIL RAGS.I HAVE A LETTER WHEREAS THE CITY STOPPED THE ENVIRONMANT FROM DOING AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE IN THIS AREA IN 2008. SUPRISED TO FIND THAT NO ONE HAS WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BEFORE BUT IT IS A SENSITIVE ISSUE WERE JOBS ARE AT STAKE AND PROPERTY VALUES MAY BE AFFECTED.

Much to my enjoyment, I have been visiting the Shuswap area for several years and this explains why I have seen over the last couple of years, dead fish, birds and clumps of an oily goo like substance.
I find it deplorable that such a beautiful area can be headed towards ruin to protect the interests of a chosen few.
I guess the next generation will be shaking their heads and wondering WHY!
Is it too late to clean this mess up or does this country and its people have the constitution to do something about it?
