Fish farms should be advised to move to closed containment on land, or else they must be shut down.

Our society has a history of approving consumer products without full research on products.From thalidomide to plastic baby bottles to automobiles ,cell phones and farmed salmon we have allowed the marketing of these products and then found important health consequences to personal and/or environmental health.Then,after wide consumption, these products are found harmful and even removed from the market.
We need to nip this in the bud, by not permitting the marketing until thorough research has been conducted on the product and possible consequences of mass consumption and long term use of these products are studied.
I believe this applies to the current practice of fish farm operations in our oceans.
Because their have been public alerts regarding the operations,I suggest that these farms be advised to move to closed containment onland, or else they must be shut down. |
