Paul J.J. Cavalluzzo
Paul J.J. Cavalluzzo, senior partner of Cavalluzzo, Hayes, Shilton, McIntyre & Cornish is the lead counsel for the Arar Inquiry. Paul is one of Canada's foremost constitutional, labour and administrative law lawyers. He has argued leading cases before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Courts of Ontario, and administrative tribunals.
Paul served, under Mr. Justice Dennis R. O'Connor, as Commission Counsel to the Walkerton Inquiry. In that capacity, he was responsible for ensuring all necessary evidence was brought forward to determine the cause of the May 2000 e-coli water supply crisis.
Paul is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Advocates Society.
Marc David, Commission counsel
Mr. David is a partner with the law firm
of Shadley Battista in Montréal. Marc holds an MBA from Concordia University and obtained his law degree from McGill in 1986. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1987 and he is currently Vice-President of the Criminal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association.
Mr. David brings to the Commission his experience in the field of criminal justice. Since 1999, Marc teaches criminal law at McGill University. He also taught at the Quebec Bar Admission School from 1997 to 2002. As an expert in the field of criminal justice, he is often called upon to give lectures to various legal bodies such as the Quebec Bar Association and to take part in conferences with members of the judiciary.
Marc has published several scholarly articles in the field of criminal law.
