Commissioner Oliphant Releases Judgment on Part II Requests for Standing

Ottawa, February 11, 2009 -Commissioner Jeffrey J. Oliphant announced today that he has ruled on applications by parties which had sought standing before the Commission for Part II of the Inquiry -the Policy Review.

The Commissioner had previously granted the application by the Attorney General of Canada, and has informed Mr. Karlheinz Schreiber and Democracy Watch that they too have been granted standing. The application by Mr. Arthur Leslie Jefford has not been granted.

The Commissioner's rulings on standing for Part II have been posted on the Commission website.

A Public Consultation Paper explaining the issues that will be considered in Part II Policy Review and calling for submissions from the public is posted on the Commission's website. The Commissioner has reiterated that members of the public who wish to make written submissions on the policy questions that will be considered in the Policy Review have until March 31, 2009 to send in their submissions to the Commission.
