Welcome!
Welcome to our web site! The EACSR was established to provide external advice to the federal government on how the government could redesign its regulatory system to better serve the needs of Canadians and Canada in the 21st century. The Committee was given a 12-15 month mandate to study and review the regulatory system and make recommendations.
Our mandate was to propose a regulatory strategy for Canada for the 21st century. We were also asked to identify sectors and areas requiring priority attention and to provide an external perspective on a number of regulatory issues. Our recommendations are aimed at modernizing the regulatory system to more effectively provide a high level of protection to Canadians, promote the transition to sustainable development and foster an economic climate that promotes innovation and investment.
Our report was presented to the Prime Minister on September 23, 2004. You can read a copy of our report here on this web site.
