Résumé :
Le saumon sauvage est essentiel à nos Premières nations, notre réseau alimentaire et notre environnement, et il faut en assurer la sauvegarde.

Représentations :
The risk is far too great for our wild salmon, they unlike the salmon farms, have no other choice to relocate and prevent harm. To me, it is unacceptable that we are destroying a valuable wild resource to allow for a lower quality farmed product.

Whatever it is we can do to hang on to wild salmon, we must, for our first nations, our food web and our environment, they are a vital link.

Our future needs wild salmon.

Commentaire:
I agree with this. Our Government has a duty to ensure there is enough salmon returning for our First Nations people who rely on salmon for survival. Canada cannot just blindly sit by and let the native's food source go extinct.

First Nations have the first right to salmon and it is well documented that Canada has tried to prevent First Nations from having access to this vital food source. Canada has appealed to every court to secure the salmon resource for the non native majority including canneries and other enterprise. The courts have continued to rule against the Government.

Natives of Canada have the first right to salmon. A Government that ignores every threat to wild salmon and thereby lets them go extinct could be perceived as intending a forced starvation.

Another crime in a long series of crimes against our native people?

I am ashamed of Canada's historical oppression of her First Nations.

I hope Canada will do things differently from now on.
