Résumé :
La correspondance par courriel de Laura Richards en novembre 2010 traite des saumons rouges prélevés dans la rivière Nadina qui ont le virus de la nécrose hématopoïétique infectieuse (VNHI).

Représentations :
In 2010, I asked Alex Morton about the pre-spawn mortality because it was so visible in the Shuswap.

I am not sure if the information reply from Dr.Laura Richards re: pre-spawn mortality concerns the salmon farming but Dr.Richards mentions a virus.

I noticed that Dr.Richards never mentions the Shuswap salmon which was the topic of my question.

I also wondered why they were only testing some place called the Nadina and not the Shuswap - you would think the larger runs deserved more monitoring more than the smaller runs. The e-mail letters and picture of the dead Shuswap salmon with eggs (pre-spawn mortality) are on my blog:

As a follow up to the above e-mail,I asked for the results of the DFO analyses on the 2010 samples (expected to be completed by spring 2011).

Subject: pre-spawn mortality

Dear Dr.Richards,
In 2010, I was one of the people who asked Alex Morton about the dead Shuswap salmon that still had eggs in them. From that I learned that it was called pre-spawn mortality.

According to your reply letter on pre-spawn mortality I am wondering if there is now any evidence that IHNV has an effect on pre-spawn mortality rates in the Shuswap?

Since DFO analyses of the 2010 samples were expected to be completed by spring 2011, perhaps you could tell us about the results.
Thank you very much,
Priscilla Judd.
