BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Active as photographers in Waterloo, Ontario, prior to moving to Vancouver in 1891, the brothers, George William and Edgar Herbert, were very successful as portrait photographers. They also took landscape photos such as a series documenting the damage to the Canadian Pacific Railway line by the Fraser River flood of 1894. George also photographed in the Yukon Territory in 1898 during the Klondike gold rush. The firm remained in business until 1920 but was last listed in the 1911 directory as photographers; from 1911 to 1920 the company concentrated on photographic supply and motion picture supply sales.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY: Listed as an artist in 1893, he lived with C.T.W. Piper who operated the Queen's Art Photo Studio. Eyres was also listed as a photographer that year with a separate residence. The following year he was operating the Imperial Studio on Yates St. at the corner of Broad. According to an 1896 summary of the studio's history, it was established in October 1892. Eyres was primarily a portrait photographer. The Colonist reported in 1897 that he and E.A. Harris had invented a device for producing vignette photographs. Eyres is buried in Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria.
