Among the many English settlers to move to the Wawanesa area and contribute to development of the community, there was one family that brought a slightly different contribution. The Criddles were not a typical family of prairie settlers. Both Percy and Alice Criddle, as well as Elise Vane, Percy Criddle's mistress, received education in Europe's most prestigious universities and were intensely interested in literature, the sciences, and all things academic, as well as sports and leisure. They passed these interests on to their children, some of whom made important contributions to the sciences in Manitoba. | ||||||||||
