    Horticultural Societies and Garden Clubs

The Canadian Horticultural Council, founded in 1922, represented the horticultural industry from across the country and was originally conceived as "a sort of fruit growers' parliament". It petitioned the government on related tariff and trade issues.

In many cases it was the garden clubs and horticultural societies who researched and recorded the history of gardening in the various regions of Canada, as is evident in this article on vegetable gardening on the prairies.
