Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The Citizenship Education Research Journal (CERJ) is a peer-reviewed journal managed by the Citizenship Education Research Network (CERN), a subsidiary group of Comparative and lnternational Education Society of Canada (CIESC) and the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE).  The journal publishes applied and theoretical research papers related to Citizenship Education that advance scholarly knowledge of the field.

Papers can be research or conceptually-based, Canadian-based or international in scope.  The journal has two sections: a peer reviewed section and an opinion/perspective section.  The latter provides a space for the discussion of contemporary ideas and issues related to citizenship education, which have not been fully developed into research papers.

Authors retain copyright, and the journal does not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs).

Ths journal is an open access journal under a Creative Commons Attribution License (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs) that allows others to share the work in an unchanged manner, with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publicationin this journal, as long as the work is not used commercially.

Peer Review Process

Articles will be double blind, peer reviewed.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Article Processing Charge (APC): this journal does not have article processing charges. 

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
