Brandl, Thomas, Pickering, Ont.; University of London (England), 1946; general surgery; LRCP, MRCS, FRCSC; former coordinator, medical services, Workers' Compensation Board; honorary consultant, surgery, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia, Ont.; team doctor, Canadian Soccer Association and Orillia Terriers. Died Jan. 20, 2001, aged 77; survived by his wife, Maureen, and 5 children. He was Orillia's Citizen of the Year in 1974.

Cherayil, Maggie A., Whitby, Ont.; University of Kerala (India), 1974; psychiatry; FRCPC; former staff psychiatrist, Whitby Mental Health Centre. Died Feb. 23, 2001, aged 52; survived by her husband, Joseph, and 2 daughters.

Claveau, Robert, Chicoutimi (Qué.); Université Laval, 1945; ancien membre du personnel de l'Hôpital de Chicoutimi, Inc.; membre émérite de l'AMC. Décédé le 16 février 2001, à l'âge de 80 ans.

De Grosbois, Paul S, Pembroke, Ont.; University of Ottawa, 1952; RCAF, WW II; RCAMC; former medical officer of health, Cornwall, Ont., and North Bay, Ont. Died Feb. 18, 2001, aged 79; survived by his wife, Marie, and 9 children.

Donevan, William J., Orillia, Ont.; Queen's University, 1946; former chief of staff, chief of pediatrics, head of geriatric services, and staff, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. Died Feb. 6, 2001, aged 80. In 1995 he was awarded the Glen Sawyer Award by the OMA.

Edsall, Milton C., Wheatley, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1929; former staff, Leamington Hospital. Died Feb. 14, 2001, aged 96; survived by his wife, Alma, 3 daughters, and 3 stepchildren. His obituary stated: "He began his practice in Wheatley in 1937 and served the families in the community until 1992."

Fejer, Imre F., York, Ont.; Cluj-Napoca University (Romania), 1939; FACA, FAGS, MCFP; former staff, Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Died Feb. 8, 2001, aged 86; survived by his sons Dr. Imre and Bela.

Greenberg, Arnold H., Winnipeg; University of Manitoba, 1965; former director, Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology; professor of pediatrics, University of Manitoba. Died of colon cancer Feb. 11, 2001, aged 59; survived by his wife, Faye, and 5 children. He was one of the University of Manitoba's "magnificent seven" — Winnipeg scientists who are recognized globally and have received large amounts of research funding. "The institute is his legacy," said Dr. Arthur Schafer. "He could have gone anywhere, but he loved Winnipeg. His roots were here."

Kirkpatrick, Thomas C., St. Marys, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1929; MCFP. Died Feb. 15, 2001, aged 96; survived by 4 children. His obituary stated: "With his wife Marjorie he had a family practice in New Hamburg, Ont., for 43 years."

Macdonald, Michael R., Halifax; McGill University, 1938; public health; DPH, FAPHA, FRCPC,; former assistant administrator and executive director, Victoria General Hospital; chief medical officer, Cape Breton Island; registrar, Provincial Medical Board; assistant professor, Dalhousie University. Died Feb. 10, 2001, aged 88; survived by a son.

Mayrand, Gérald, Trois-Rivières, (Qué.); Université de Montréal, 1943; ancien membre du personnel du département d'omnipraticien du Centre hospitalier Saint-Joseph. Décédé le 13 février 2001, à l'âge de 83 ans.

Moscovich, Bernard B., Richmond, BC; University of Alberta, 1934; internal medicine; FRCPC; RCAMC, WW II; former staff, Vancouver General Hospital; clinical medical director, Alcoholism Foundation of BC; clinical associate professor emeritus, University of British Columbia; gold medallist, University of Alberta. Died Feb. 14, 2001, aged 90; survived by his wife, Ruth, and 2 children. His obituary stated: "He founded the Outpatients Clinic at the Vancouver General Hospital 60 years ago with his brother Jack."

Parthev, Stephen J., Saskatoon; Isfahan University (Iran), 1958; DPM, MRCPys.; former staff, Yorkton Regional Psychiatric Centre and Department of Psychiatry, University Hospital. Died Feb. 12, 2001, aged 68; survived by his wife, Flora, and 2 sons. His obituary stated: "He was a proud Armenian whose love of the arts and the written word led him to publish an Armenian-Persian/English dictionary."

Pratt, Kenneth E., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1931. Died Feb. 18, 2001; survived by his wife, Audrey, and a son.

Saberwal, Raj P., Winnipeg; University of Glasgow (Scotland), 1967; MRCOG(Lond.); former chief of medical staff and membership, Area Standards Committee, Arborg and District Health Centre. Died of cancer Feb. 4, 2001, aged 60; survived by his wife, Pat, and 3 children.

Theman, A. Edward, Edmonton; University of Manitoba, 1943; general surgery; FACS, FRCSC; former attending surgeon, Misericordia Hospital; assistant clinical professor, surgery, University of Alberta. Died Feb. 12, 2001, aged 82.

Woollacott, Paul J., Kitimat, BC; University of Toronto, 1952; MCFP; former staff, Kitimat General Hospital. Died Feb. 10, 2001, aged 76.
