Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? There is nothing that says Winter Wonderland more than this fuzzy and warm white scarf.

For years, I have loved the look of a multi-wrap scarf, but didn't like the resulting lump on my back that inevitably came along with it. After a few tries, I came up with a solution. Knit in two pieces, the finished product results in four separate "legs" that wrap together in front, keeping your neck cozy, and minimizing the discomfort in the back of your coat.

This scarf is great for an experienced beginner - someone who wants a little more of a challenge in their knitting, but still wants a simple and sassy finished product. These are great to make for gifts - they knit up quickly in either stockinette or garter stitch.

MATERIALS

Gedifra Micro Chic [100% micro fiber; 72 yd/65m per 50g skein]; Color: White [3303]; 3 skeins

1 set US #10.5/6.5 mm straight needles
Stitch Holder
Tapestry Needle

GAUGE

14 sts/16 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch

DIRECTIONS

Scarf sections[make 2]

CO 42 sts.
Work for 2 inches in St st.
Next Row: Work 18 sts in St st, BO 7 sts, work remaining 18 stitches in St st.
Next Row: Work 18 sts. Transfer rem sts to stitch holder.
Work rem sts on needle in St st until piece measures 18 inches in total length [including first 2 inches worked in pattern].

Transfer rem 18 sts from stitch holder to needle.
Work in St st until piece measures 18 inches in total length [including first 2 inches worked in pattern].

FINISHING

To finish, weave in loose yarn ends and place the two pieces with the fullest widths end to end [see diagram] and join.

Note: I've created this in a variety of yarns, from Lamb's Pride Bulky to Berroco Chinchilla, and each has been a success. Be creative to create your own look [just be sure to adjust for your gauge - you may need more or less yarn and different size needles]!

WEARING

To tie, place the seam at the back of your neck vertically, tie the bottom two "legs" of the scarf first and then the top two "legs", adjusting so they lay flat at the front [see photos]. You can do this with either side ending up on top - just choose your preference.

Place the scarf with the seam vertical at the back of your neck. You should have two pieces of scarf on each side of your neck.

Start with the bottom two "legs". Cross one side over the other, up the back, and over the top.
One piece should now be lying on top of the other. Adjust the top piece to lay flat.

Repeat with top two pieces.

Voila! Knock 'em dead!
